Aaron
Old Mine · The mines
"You should tread lightly from now on, though. I got me eye on you."
A paid return
Aaron works in the Old Mine and keeps a chest whose key has gone missing. He is willing to pay twenty nuggets for its return, but the offer is mixed with suspicion: when the Hero explains how he found the key, Aaron decides it is probably better not to know.
The missing key
Aaron pays as promised when the Hero returns the key. The arrangement is simple, but it depends on the Hero treating Aaron's property as something that should be brought back rather than opened or carried away.
Snipes's separate conversation confirms that the chest is valuable enough to tempt people into taking a risk.
A warning afterward
Aaron's gratitude does not become trust. Once the key is back in his hands, he warns the Hero that if he pulls something like that again, he will kick his arse and keep an eye on him.
He is a miner with a small private problem, but he responds to it with the same guardedness the Colony teaches everyone who wants to keep what is theirs.
Quest involvement
- Aaron's Chest: Aaron's Chest He pays you to get Aaron away from the chest long enough for him to act. The follow-up offer is a key to Aaron's chest for 30 nuggets.
What other NPCs say
Snipes mentions Aaron while offering the Hero a few nuggets to get him away from a chest, then worries that Aaron's belongings would bring severe punishment if found in the wrong hands. The context presents Aaron less as a public figure than as a miner whose property is valuable enough to provoke theft and fear.
