The castle's history

Cutter meets the Hero as a new face around the castle and explains its history. The fortress belonged to the king until the mages fucked up their spell and the Barrier came down; Gomez and his men then took control.

Cutter was not there for the storming itself, but says it was already clear that Gomez was the man to follow. Even before the Barrier, when the prisoners were crammed into the dungeons, Gomez was calling the shots.

Cutter says the castle's dungeons are now empty because Gomez is not the type to take prisoners. The comment is brief, but it describes the Old Camp's rule as something more final than formal administration: people are kept, used, or removed, and the castle's old purpose has been absorbed into Gomez's authority.

Life as a warder

Asked about life as a warder, Cutter calls it quiet. He credits that quiet to the Old Camp being the biggest and most powerful camp in the Colony, a place no one wants to challenge except for the occasional bandit.

His confidence is the everyday version of the camp's reputation: strength makes routine feel safe, at least while Gomez's position holds.
