Varrag Kasorg

Orc High Priest · Other Colony inhabitants

"Who is this? I can't see. It's all ... darkness."

In the darkness

Varrag Kasorg is an orc High Priest encountered in the temple's darkness. He cannot see the Hero or the space around him clearly; the first thing he says is that everything is darkness, followed by the recognition that a trespasser has reached him.

A reluctant sacrifice

Kasorg says he was once Skargok, until the Great Ur recognised his gift for magic and made him a Varrag—a sacrifice for Krushak. He describes that appointment as an honour even while admitting that he never wanted it and does not understand why it feels this way.

The contradiction makes him unlike a simple temple guard: he is frightened, exhausted, and still caught inside the role forced on him.

Krushak's voice

Kasorg does not want to kill anyone and asks only for rest, but Krushak's presence returns when the Hero tries to leave him alone. The orc's speech breaks down, the god's command overtakes him, and the earlier uncertainty gives way to the repeated declaration that the trespasser has reached his end.
