Gomez's guard
Arto is one of Gomez's bodyguards in the Old Camp's castle. He introduces himself without ceremony, admits that he is not talkative, and gives the only explanation of his work that the Hero needs: he is there to protect Gomez.
A silent guard
Arto's short answers are part of the impression he creates. He does not offer opinions about the ore barons, the women in the castle, or the camp beyond his post; the dialogue presents him as a man whose role is to stand near Gomez and let Scar handle the longer explanations.
What is documented about Arto is therefore narrow but definite: name, temperament, and duty.

Thorus mentions Arto while warning the Hero not to loiter around the castle: Arto and Scar may report the behavior to Gomez, who could withdraw his favor. The reference therefore shows Arto's importance through surveillance and access, not through a speech or title of his own.
