Scar

Ore Baron · Old Camp

"He's the most powerful man in the Colony."

Gomez's household

Scar is one of the men who keeps Gomez's private world under control. He works alongside Arto to keep uninvited guests away from the ore baron, and he also looks after the women in Gomez's household, making sure they have what they need and punishing any digger or warder who thinks he can touch them.

The castle's gatekeeper

Scar's authority is not presented as a formal title, but it is visible in what he is allowed to manage. He decides who is safe to approach Gomez, watches the people who move through the castle, and treats the Hero's questions as the beginning of a possible intrusion.

When the Hero later tries to escape the Colony, Scar does not offer false hope; he answers that the Hero will not get out.

Gomez's power

Asked about the woman who arrived with the Hero on the supply carts, Scar tells him to forget about her because she is Gomez's now. On Gomez himself, Scar is unequivocal: he is the most powerful man in the Colony and can take whatever he wants.

Yet Scar also identifies the limit of that appetite—what Gomez is truly after is and always has been, power.

The wrong side

Scar's judgement changes when the Hero works with the Loons and the Water Mages. He says the Hero was useful at first but has now picked the wrong side and made things worse.

The shift reveals how Scar measures people: usefulness can open the door, but loyalty to a rival camp closes it again.

What other NPCs say

Thorus warns the Hero that Scar, together with Arto, may report suspicious behavior around the castle to Gomez. Other officials treat Scar as part of the inner security structure, so his influence comes from deciding what the ore barons hear and who is allowed to move through their space.
