Quest Parts

  • Acquired Taste:
  • Muk wants meatbug ragout.:

Outcome

Give Muk the ragout and he guides you along his secret path.

A hungry guide to the sealed temple

The way into the orc temple is not blocked by a locked gate alone. Muk knows a hidden route, but he is not prepared to reveal it for nothing. His demand is strangely specific: meatbug ragout, remembered as something warm, dark, meaty, and mixed with mushrooms. In a place where food and safety are scarce, that memory is enough to make a secret passage worth trading.

There is another obstacle before the bargain can be made. Umakhal, a warrior assigned to follow the hero, will not allow a private conversation. Ur-Shak explains that Umakhal serves To-Churnagg's orders and that Ur-Shak himself has been stripped of the authority he once held. His one useful observation is that a warrior cannot enter every cave in the orc settlement.

A path opened by understanding

The hero must use the boundaries of orc society to lose Umakhal, rather than trying to defeat or persuade him. Once Muk is finally alone, the ragout becomes more than a meal. Its taste is familiar enough to overcome suspicion, and Muk recognizes that the hero has taken his request seriously. The guide's excitement turns the exchange into an invitation to follow.

Muk's secret path changes the meaning of the temple approach. Progress here depends on learning how the orcs live, what authority they recognize, and what they value—not simply on forcing a way through. A small act of patience and a remembered meal become the bridge to one of the colony's most closely guarded places.
