Outcome

The family is a running merchant hand-in rather than a single one-and-done quest.

A merchant's eye for the forgotten

Santino is not interested in ordinary loot. He wants the kinds of objects whose value is hidden until someone knows how to read them, and he trusts his own judgment about what counts as unusual. The hero's work is to keep bringing back pieces of the colony's forgotten history and let Santino decide whether any of them deserve a price.

That makes the hand-ins a running conversation rather than a single sale. A strange object can be worthless to one prisoner and important to a merchant who understands where it came from or what it can unlock. Santino's shop becomes a place where the past is quietly converted into access.

The title deed and the passage below

The title deed demonstrates the principle perfectly. It is a piece of paper, not a weapon, but Santino recognizes that it is connected to a route into the castle cellar. What appears to be a record of ownership becomes a map to a secret tunnel, opening a way through the heart of the Old Camp's walls.

The discovery gives the hero a different kind of power over the castle. Its defenses are not absolute; they are built over old passages and forgotten claims that can still be recovered by someone patient enough to look. Santino's trade is therefore also an education in how the colony hides its weaknesses.
