Outcome
The key or distraction gives access to Ulbert's storage shed.
A locked shed and a missing key
Ulbert is responsible for a store of supplies, but the key to the shed has disappeared. He suspects Aleph, whose access to the key creates an opportunity for anyone willing to pay. The price is thirty nuggets for the key alone, or fifty for the key plus a ring presented as a token of friendship.
The arrangement turns a camp security problem into a small market. Aleph does not need to break the lock or challenge Ulbert; he only needs to possess the thing that gives the guard control. The hero can recover access by buying it, accepting that the camp's supplies are protected by whoever currently holds the key.
Moving the guard without a fight
There are other ways inside. A drink can persuade Ulbert to leave his post briefly, while a story about a feast sends him away expecting a share. The false feast is effective only until the truth catches up with him, and Ulbert's anger makes clear that a guard who feels mocked is more dangerous than one who is merely distracted.
The shed is a small example of the colony's wider vulnerabilities. A lock is only as strong as the person guarding it, and a person can be moved by money, alcohol, or pride. The hero's choice determines whether the intrusion looks like a purchase, a favor, or a humiliation.
