Cohsel

Shadow · Beyond the camps

"I can't bring him into Camp, obviously - that wouldn't end well. So we prefer to stay out here."

Cohsel lives beyond the Old Camp, gathering rare plants and ingredients for the mages with Dandy, the wolf who keeps him company. He prefers the wilderness to the camp and has learned to get around it on a tamed scavenger.

Riding scavengers

Cohsel initially refuses to teach the Hero how to ride a scavenger, then turns persistence into a practical errand. He needs kingstide algae to make a whistle that will calm and call the beast, and materials for a saddle before the lesson can become useful. The arrangement shows both his knowledge of the changed wilderness and his reluctance to give it away for free.
