Gor Hanis

Templar · Swamp Camp

"My supreme discipline paired with my impeccable swordplay and my iron mind will inspire many a lost soul."

The Brotherhood's champion

Gorhanis is a templar sent by the Brotherhood's gurus to fight in the Old Camp's arena. He says the purpose is to show the cesspool how strong faith has made him, and believes his discipline, swordplay, and iron mind can inspire lost souls.

When the Hero challenges him outright, Gorhanis refuses to see glory in butchering some green-blood in front of an audience. He tells the Hero to prove himself elsewhere first, suggesting that the mercenary and the Shadow may be less concerned with the moral high ground.

Gorhanis will fight only when the Hero is worthy.

Salvation and the Hearing

Gorhanis leaves detailed theology to the gurus, but states his own belief plainly: the Sleeper is their salvation, wanted the Brotherhood to find the Colony, and will set them free when the time comes. He does not deny that they are waiting for their god to spring them from the prison; he says the wait is almost over.

The gurus are preparing a Hearing, which their prophet Y'Berion calls the first step toward liberation. Gorhanis sends anyone who wants more detail to the Brotherhood's camp and notes that novices stationed in the Old Camp can guide curious visitors there.

His faith is martial, but it still depends on the same promised revelation as the gurus' sermons.

What other NPCs say

Kirgo mentions Gor Hanis while naming the fighters whose defeat would impress the Old Camp. The remark occurs in a conversation about combat reputation, so Gor Hanis is presented as a difficult benchmark rather than a quest giver or political figure.

The hidden requirement

  • What “worthy” means: The follow-up challenge checks the Hero’s level: level 15 or higher opens the duel. Below level 15, Gor Hanis answers that the Hero is unworthy and sends him away. No separate strength, weapon, or guild requirement is evidenced in this conversation.
  • When the challenge is available: The initial arena challenge is a Chapter 1-only window. It is gated before Chapter 2, before Scatty’s arena task has started, and while the Gor Hanis, Kharim, and Kirgo challenge flags are still unset. Those flags are the game’s internal state for the three arena opponents.
  • What counts as success: The linked Scatty arena quest succeeds only when the game records Gor Hanis being defeated by the Hero. Merely challenging him—or reaching level 15—is not itself the quest success condition.
