Lefty

Rogue · New Camp

"Oy, freshie! You got a second? The farmers are thirsty, and we need someone to fetch 'em some water."

Water for the farmers

Lefty greets the Hero as a freshie and asks him to fetch water for the thirsty farmers, calling it a great way to make friends around camp. If the Hero agrees, Lefty sends him to Ulmar, who provides the water and the instructions.

The task is simple, but it makes the newcomer visible to the people who keep the rice fields alive.

If the Hero refuses or brushes him off, Lefty becomes threatening. He says the farmers need someone now and warns, I think you need a reminder who's boss.

A daily chore

Once the Hero completes the water run, Lefty praises him as a natural and says he looked genuinely happy doing it. He immediately pushes the Hero to make deliveries a daily chore.

If the Hero abandons the job, Lefty accuses him of going back on his word and says he is disappointed, although he offers a second chance when asked politely and warns the Hero not to waste it.

When the Hero checks in without doing anything useful, Lefty responds irritably: Oh, fuck's sake! What d'you want? His friendliness is therefore conditional on work—the farmers' thirst is more important than the Hero's wish to chat.

Quest involvement

  • Thirsty Farmers: Lefty sends you to Ulmar for water, then expects one bottle delivered to every farmer. Do not refuse Lefty after accepting. I can report back to Lefty.

What other NPCs say

Lares mentions Lefty when encouraging the Hero to resist someone who pushes weaker people around, and later approves when the Hero beats him. Other workers direct the Hero to Lefty for water and labor, revealing the contrast between Lefty's practical authority and the resentment his bullying creates. Rufus calls Lefty one of the Rice Lord's goons after describing how Lefty pressures newcomers to “help out in the fields,” making the labor request sound like coercion.
