Quentin

Bandit · Bandit Camp

"And as far as weapons are concerned, well, this is called the Valley of Mines for a reason. There's ore and there's tools, and we got a blacksmith."

Quentin leads the Bandit Camp with the bluntness of someone who expects every visitor to be either a threat or a problem. He respects the Hero's nerve when it is backed by action, but he does not mistake a useful conversation for friendship.

A camp apart

Quentin rejects the claim that his people are being recruited away from the larger camps. In his view, people come because they are tired of being ordered about by ore barons, mercenary leaders, and religious authorities. The camp survives by hunting, gathering, scavenging, and working the ore it can reach, and Quentin is determined to keep that independence.

Why he hates mages

His hostility toward mages comes from a war in Nordmar, where a Fire Mage answered an orc assault with a rain of fire that killed friendly soldiers along with the enemy. Quentin does not claim every mage is the same, but he sees unchecked magical power as another way for the powerful to treat ordinary people as disposable.

Quest involvement

  • Bar the Truth: Arlin admits he talked to the warders, but says he did not give away Quentin's camp. Quentin reacts favorably if you free him; killing or abandoning him makes Quentin assume Arlin talked. Before seeing Quentin, change out of mage robes.
  • The Rogues' Camp: I should find out what sort of guy Quentin is.
  • A New Arrangement: I should offer Quentin the deal.

What other NPCs say

Baal Orun, Brannok, Lee, and Thorus refer to Quentin while the Hero is trying to understand the bandits in the canyon. The consistent point is that the group rallies around him, so dealing with the bandits means recognizing Quentin's authority rather than treating them as unconnected criminals.
