A magical obstacle with a living guard

The focus in the canyon is not sealed behind a dead civilization or a puzzle. A troll is standing between the hero and the stone, turning the expedition into a problem of raw strength. Milten's solution is characteristically different: gather three tufts of troll hair so he can prepare a scroll that changes the terms of the fight.

The materials are dangerous to obtain, and the spell still requires the hero to stand close enough to focus its glyphs on the creature. Milten's magic does not remove the risk; it gives a fighter the opening needed to survive an encounter that would otherwise be overwhelming.

Milten's participation matters beyond the scroll. The focus search belongs to Saturas and the Water Mages, yet a young Fire Mage is the person who makes this branch possible. The recovered stone later reaches Saturas with Milten's contribution attached to it, quietly demonstrating that the old division between fire and water can be crossed when freedom is at stake.

The canyon therefore becomes a practical lesson in cooperation. The hero supplies courage and endurance, Milten supplies the right magic, and the focus joins the other stones waiting to be gathered for the Barrier ritual.
