Outcome
Nefarius keeps the tome and identifies Innos's Grace as a valuable godly artifact.
A shrine hidden beyond the mines
Nefarius sends the hero uphill from the Old Mine into the northern tundra, following a mountain pass to a waterfall that conceals an old Fire Mage temple. The route is a reminder that the Colony's sacred places were built before the current camps drew their boundaries. The temple is hidden, but not forgotten by those who still study its history.
Nefarius wants two things: the treatise *Gifts of the Gods* and the artifact called Innos's Grace. The book contains knowledge about ancient divine objects, while the artifact carries the aura of the god himself. One offers understanding; the other offers a direct connection to a faith the New Camp's mages normally approach from a distance.
A relic with a future beyond the Barrier
Nefarius is unwilling to accept a partial search. If the book is missing, he sends the hero back because the treatise is the part that can explain what the artifact means. The temple's value lies in the relationship between the text and the object, not in a piece of treasure taken from a forgotten room.
He also admits that Innos's Grace may become immensely valuable if it is kept safe. The artifact belongs to a world of sacred ownership and open roads that the Barrier has cut off. Recovering it gives the Water Mages a piece of the old religious landscape while raising the possibility that such relics could matter again if the prison ever opens.
A godly history shared across camps
The expedition expands the hero's role as a carrier between traditions. A Fire Mage sanctuary is explored for a Water Mage, and an artifact of Innos is placed in the hands of people whose work depends on Adanos. The temple quietly reinforces the idea that the Colony's future cannot be rebuilt by one camp's history alone.
