The Old Camp swordsmith

Huno is the Old Camp's swordsmith, confident in his craft and short on patience for small talk. He says a basic sword can be made quickly if the customer has the ore, while an elaborate commission takes much longer; one client paid a hundred and fifty nuggets for a decorated blade and kept demanding ornaments until the job felt like talking to a princess ordering a wedding gown.

The forge and its standards

Huno insists that smithing is more than hammering iron until it resembles a sword. The smith must know what weapon is being made, heat the metal correctly, shape it on the anvil, quench it at the right moment, and fit the hilt and finer pieces afterward.

He says no one has complained about his work yet, then adds that every arsehole in the camp needs a sword and he is the man who makes them.

Lurker's Bite

Huno has a blueprint for a fast sword he calls Lurker's Bite. It is not the most powerful weapon under the Barrier, but he considers it ideal for an experienced fighter.

He offers to teach the Hero the design after a practical test: forge five sickles and deliver them to Fisk, using iron and wood from Huno's forge without wasting the material.

Fisk and the sickles

Huno knows Fisk has contacts who can move the sickles, but he is uneasy about the possibility that the order connects the Old Camp to the New Camp. He has already had to chase Fisk for payment before, yet still accepts that a smith has to make a living.

Once the Hero completes the delivery, Huno teaches the promised weapon and keeps the risk at the edge of his mind.

Stone's trouble

When Stone is dragged to Gomez's dungeons for treason, Huno calls the accusation nonsense but admits that the war hammer affair makes Stone look suspicious. He explains that Stone has been meeting swamp merchants and that Gomez wants Huno working in the castle forge under closer supervision.

Huno would rather see Stone rescued than feed the dungeons, and points the Hero toward Darrion when the key for Stone's cell proves too complex for his own tools.

What other NPCs say

Stone sends the Hero to Huno when he needs smithing instruction, but later explains that Gomez blamed Huno after a valuable design went missing. Huno's reputation therefore has two sides: he is skilled enough to teach others, yet still exposed to the ore barons' suspicion and pressure.
