Stone
Warder · Old Camp
Proper work needs proper materials - or the proper amount of ore.
Stone is the Old Camp armorer. He keeps weapons and armor as separate trades: Skip handles weapons, while Stone supplies armor only to warders. His blunt refusal to equip the Hero until he has earned a place among Gomez's men makes that hierarchy part of his work, not merely an excuse to turn a customer away.
A smith's rivalry
Stone trained Darrion before Darrion joined the Brotherhood, and he dismisses his former student's decorative approach to smithing as needless artistry. Yet he is interested enough in a templar's distinctive blade to send the Hero after it. When the design reaches him, Stone studies its balance and agrees to forge a war hammer from it in secret, warning that Gomez would punish them if he discovered the work.
The commission can be paid for in ore or made from steel bars, ironwood shafts, iron bands, and leather. Stone later finishes the hammer and expects the Hero to keep quiet about it. The same practical pride shapes his training: he teaches a proven smith how balance, tempering, and control make heavy swords and axes usable.
After the Old Camp
When Stone is trapped below after the Old Camp falls apart, he asks simply to be taken out. Once free, he promises to make the rescue worthwhile. Later he can improve the Hero's ore armor, calling the finished piece better than any armor in Myrtana.
Stone also judges the Hero's standing by his armor: he will not work on an outfit he does not recognise as a warder's. That rule matters again when the Hero later brings ore armor for improvement, because Stone recognises the chance to turn an already remarkable piece into something stronger.
What other NPCs say
Darrion, Fisk, Huno, Ian, and Thorus mention Stone while discussing forged weapons, armor, payment, and the pressure coming from Gomez. The conversations move between respect for his craftsmanship and concern over his vulnerability, showing how a skilled smith can be essential to the camp without being free from its power structure. Darrion jokes about Stone becoming his assistant and calls him “mighty Stone,” a teasing remark that still confirms how well known the Old Camp smith is among craftsmen.
Stone’s armor service is strict
- Required armor: Stone only works on warder armor, and the dialogue requires the Hero to have it equipped before he will proceed. He does not offer a general armor upgrade.
- Required story progress: The service is tied to the Old Camp’s third Forge Rivalries objective. The relevant quest must have succeeded before Stone’s usable armor branch appears.
