The best of us will join our minds so the Sleeper may truly speak to us for the first time.

Nyras introduces the Hero to the Brotherhood's ordinary faith. He explains why the novices defer to the gurus and why Yberion's visions reach the camp through them: the Sleeper's messages are fragments and images, and a direct connection would overwhelm a human mind. For Nyras, the Great Awakening promises the clear guidance that those fragments have never supplied.

The path to the focus

Yberion sends Nyras with the Hero to the focus-stone site near the camp. The journey changes him. Once the barrier falls, Nyras can attack the Hero in an attempt to take the focus and later remember none of it; if he dies, Yberion calls the loss tragic but believes the force field is responsible. The same devoted novice therefore becomes the first close warning that the Brotherhood's certainty is not safety.

Dreamjuice and the ritual

Nyras links Cor Kalom's dreamjuice to the Great Awakening. He believes the heightened state created by the elixir is the only way the Brotherhood can receive the Sleeper's signals. His explanations make the ritual's appeal understandable before its consequences are known.

Nyras's warmth toward the Hero is genuine, which makes his later collapse more consequential than a hostile ambush. He speaks as a novice who believes the camp has been saved by the Sleeper's wisdom, then becomes evidence that the focus site's power can reach even one of its most convinced followers.

What other NPCs say

Cor Kalom's orders send the Hero to find Nyras and the focus, while Y'Berion recalls how often Nyras visited the site. Later comments question the official story that he simply went mad, so the references frame Nyras as both a missing novice and a potentially important witness. Cor Kalom questions the official explanation with the remark that he still has doubts about Novice Nyras “going mad,” leaving room for a more complicated account of the disappearance.
