Cor Kalom directs the Brotherhood's preparations for the Great Awakening. Yberion trusts him with the ritual's practical work and sends the Hero to him after the tome is recovered. Kalom has spent months preparing the concoction required for the ceremony, but he remains suspicious of the outsider Yberion has chosen to help.

The minecrawler ichor

Kalom's preparation depends on the minecrawler nest. Once the Hero returns with eggs full of ichor, Kalom confirms that the material can be made into dreamjuice and says the elixir can be ready that night. The discovery allows the Brotherhood to set the Great Awakening in motion at Temple Square.

After the ritual

The failed awakening leaves Kalom unable to accept the conclusion drawn from Yberion's death and the vision. Cor Angar tries to preserve the Brotherhood and follow the trail to the orc graveyard; Kalom instead insists that the orcs are holding the Sleeper captive. Their disagreement turns a shared faith into an open split in the camp.

Kalom's trust in the Hero is uneasy from the beginning. Yberion has to insist that the focus stone proves the outsider can be relied on. That tension remains important as the ritual approaches: Kalom supplies the preparation, while Yberion supplies the conviction that the Hero belongs in it.

The contrast grows sharper after the vision. Kalom reads the same disaster as a reason to pursue the Sleeper more fiercely, while Angar sees evidence that the Brotherhood has been deceived. The split follows from their opposed readings of events, not from a sudden change of camp politics.

What other NPCs say

The gurus mention Cor Kalom while dealing with his apprentices, the herb trade, and the leadership vacuum left by his departure. Some respect his skill as an alchemist and former leader, but they also call him a fool for rejecting Y'Berion's wisdom, revealing the split between competence and judgment. Baal Orun summarizes the criticism sharply: Cor Kalom has real skill, but is still called a fool for casting aside Y'Berion's wisdom.

  • Four recommendations: Cor Kalom does not accept a newcomer’s promise to join the Brotherhood. Return only after at least four Baals have recommended the Hero, then answer Kalom’s personal question before he hands over the novice robes.
  • What the recommendations are about: The recognized recommendations come from Baal Orun, Baal Cadar, Baal Namib, Baal Tyon, and Baal Tondral. The Hero needs any four, not all five; each guru’s support is earned through a different favor or demonstration.
