The Minecrawler Nest
Quest · Chapter 2 · Swamp Camp
Route
- Cor Kalom marks the minecrawler nest northwest of the camp and sends you to Cor Angar. First win the test fight against Gor Na Dun.
- Find Lester in the Old Mine, recruit Gor Na Bar, Vid, and Kosh, and bring four mandibles to Gor Na Bar. Ian initially asks for a replacement cog, but later refuses permission.
- Lester's plan uses Diego, Gorn, and Milten to blast the blockage. Put the blue ore in place, use Milten's spell, then enter the tunnel alone.
- Kill the minecrawler queen, take the eggs, and return them to Cor Kalom.
Quest Parts
- The Minecrawler Nest: Cor Kalom's map marks the nest northwest of the Swamp Camp. The job starts with Cor Angar, not by walking into the tunnel alone.
- I should talk to Cor Angar.: Cor Angar gives you the combat check that proves you are ready to lead the expedition.
- I gotta defeat Gor Na Dun.: Beat Gor Na Dun in the test fight, then return to Cor Angar to continue the minecrawler job.
- Lester is somewhere in the Old Mine.: Find Lester in the Old Mine. He is the person who turns the blocked-tunnel problem into a workable plan.
- I need Ian's permission.: Ask Ian for clearance. He first asks for a replacement cog, but the permission route still closes off, which is why Lester's plan becomes necessary.
- I need three templars to back me up.: Recruit Gor Na Bar, Gor Na Vid, and Gor Na Kosh. Gor Na Bar will not commit until you bring him four minecrawler mandibles.
- Lester will want to hear about it.: Keep Lester updated once the team, access problem, and tunnel plan are in place; he is coordinating the workaround.
- I should follow Diego.: Stay with Diego as the team sets up the blast. The route also depends on Gorn and Milten being ready for the plan.
- Time to clear that tunnel.: Place the blue ore where Lester directs and use Milten's spell to blow the obstruction open.
- I gotta go inside the tunnel ... alone.: After the blast, enter the new tunnel by yourself, kill the minecrawler queen, and take the eggs from the nest.
- I should bring Cor Kalom the minecrawler eggs.: Take the queen's eggs straight back to Cor Kalom to finish the family and collect the experience reward.
Outcome
Cor Kalom rewards the hand-in with experience.
The source of the Brotherhood's elixir
Cor Kalom sends the hero after minecrawler eggs because the nest contains the ichor needed for dreamjuice. The Brotherhood's spiritual preparations depend on a substance taken from one of the most dangerous places in the Colony, making the ritual inseparable from the labor and violence of the mines.
Cor Angar refuses to send the hero forward on faith alone. The fight with Gor Na Dun is a public measure of readiness, while the recruitment of Gor Na Bar, Vid, and Kosh creates a small expedition force. The templars do not become attendants; they must be convinced that the hero can survive the work they are being asked to support.
A plan assembled across camps
The blocked tunnel forces the Brotherhood to ask for help beyond its own walls. Ian will not risk his miners, even after the hero repairs a broken crusher, so Lester brings together Diego, Gorn, and Milten. Gorn supplies the blue ore, Milten prepares the spell, and Diego helps organize the dangerous approach.
Their solution is as reckless as it is brilliant: channel the ore's power through a spell and blast open the blockage. Once the way is clear, the hero must enter alone. The group can remove the wall, but only one person can carry the mission into the nest without turning the rescue attempt into a larger loss of life.
Eggs, ichor, and the night ahead
The queen's eggs are the culmination of the expedition and the immediate beginning of the Great Awakening. Cor Kalom sees the source he needs for the elixir, while Y'Berion sees confirmation that the Sleeper sent the hero. The minecrawler nest therefore links the Brotherhood's labor force, the other camps' practical help, and the ceremony that will soon decide whether the camp's faith has understood its master at all.
