Wolf

Rogue · New Camp

"Cause a week ago in the pub, I had an idea for a new sort o' armor. A bloody good one."

The New Camp armorer

Wolf introduces himself simply as the camp's armorer: Wolf. I make the armors round here. Before the Hero formally joins the mercenaries, Wolf refuses to sell him their gear, fearing Lares is gonna rip me head off if he finds out I'm sellin' our gear to strangers.

Once the Hero is formally one of them, Wolf is happy to sell him better armor outright.

The minecrawler design

He tells the Hero he had an idea in the pub for a new kind of armor made from the plates of a tougher breed of minecrawler than the common kind, and asks the Hero to gather some for him, promising that whoever brings back enough plates will be the first to wear a proper minecrawler armor.

Learning the craft

He explains how to harvest the plates, calling it easy work since only a thin line of tissue joins them to the bodies, so a skinning knife run along the edges frees them cleanly. When the Hero brings back a partial haul, Wolf says it isn't enough yet and sends him back for more; once he has plenty, Wolf gets to work, admitting he has no idea how long it will take since this is a first for him.

The finished armor

Progress is slow, the plates being hard to work with while he figures out how to connect them, but he eventually succeeds, calling the finished armor tougher than just about anythin' short of Gomez's armor. Asked what he personally gets out of the project, Wolf downplays it, framing the work as keeping alive the man Lee says is their best chance of getting out of there, plus the experience of trying something new.

What other NPCs say

Drax, Gorn, Haenno, and Lares mention Wolf when arranging hunting, expeditions, or urgent messages. Wolf is valued for practical knowledge—where to find people, how to skin animals, and what must happen before a trip—so his reputation comes from being useful in the field.

Minecrawler armor timing

  • What to bring and when to return: Wolf’s finished minecrawler-armor branch requires the minecrawler plates to have been delivered and the related Ulu-Mulu story objective to have succeeded. The source also checks that at least one in-game day has passed since the crafting work began, so the armor is not ready immediately.
  • His ordinary armor has a separate rule: Wolf sells New Camp armor only to a formal member of the camp, and the finished set must be the camp’s light rogue armor with that armor equipped when he starts the sale.
