  • Bring all three hearts to the demon for the teleport rune to Xardas's upper floor. Xardas also teaches basic Orcish and sends you toward the orc-shaman route.
  • Later, return to Saturas with Xardas's warning: the Sleeper is disrupting the Barrier magic. The conflict over recharging Uriziel can cut you off from the Water Mages' camp.

Outcome

Xardas redirects the story from the failed Barrier ritual to stopping the Sleeper.

The tower no one can reach

Saturas sends the hero to Xardas because the Water Mages' ritual has reached a problem they cannot solve alone. The tower is protected by a demon gatekeeper who treats the hero's arrival as another interruption in an endless watch. He will not open the way for a promise or a title; he demands the hearts of a stone golem, an ice golem, and a fire golem as proof that the visitor is more than a fragile intruder.

The three hearts are a trial against the elements and a statement about Xardas's isolation. Years of failed couriers have left the tower cut off from ordinary conversation, so its master has built a threshold that only someone who survives the wilderness can cross.

Knowledge from an impossible teacher

The demon eventually provides a teleport rune to Xardas's upper floor, where the old mage explains that the Sleeper is disrupting the Barrier's magic. Xardas also teaches the hero basic Orcish and directs them toward the orc-shaman route, linking the Water Mages' crisis to the people who first summoned the being at its center.

His help is valuable but never uncomplicated. Saturas suspects Xardas of pursuing his own ambitions, while Xardas sees the Water Mages' plan as too slow for the danger approaching. The hero has to carry Xardas's warning back into a camp that may not want to believe the messenger.

The cost of choosing a faster answer

Xardas's solution requires recharging Uriziel with the blue ore reserved for the Barrier ritual. Saturas calls that reserve the hope of hundreds of workers and warns that using it may close the Water Mages' camp to the hero forever. Xardas turns the story from escaping the prison by the established plan toward confronting the power that makes the plan fail.

The meeting therefore changes the hero's objective. The question is no longer only how to lower the dome, but whether stopping the Sleeper is the necessary first step—and whether the hero is willing to risk the trust of the people who wanted freedom by another route.
