Gravo
Digger · Old Camp
"I'm helpin' folks solve their problems."
A fixer outside the mines
Gravo is a former miner who finally got out of the pits and now makes his living helping people solve their problems. He offers to smooth things over when the Hero falls out of favour with someone important, using Thorus as an example.
Thorus is stubborn as a mule,
and once someone loses his good graces, he will not talk to them anymore.
Gravo says his network reaches the people whose word carries weight with Thorus. He can talk the Hero up secondhand until the praise comes back around and repairs the relationship, but he charges for the service.
A smaller problem may cost a hundred nuggets; a serious one costs much more, and no amount of charm can replace the payment.
The Old Camp's key figures
Asked to name the camp's important Shadows, Gravo lays out the hierarchy. Diego is the top dog, backed by Fingers, Whistler, and Sly.
Dexter and Fisk are the marketplace fences; everyone buys from them, even the warders, which gives the two dealers influence beyond their stalls. Scatty runs the arena and decides who can fight, while many people owe him ore.
Information as leverage
Gravo's knowledge is useful because the Old Camp is held together by reputation as much as by orders. He knows who can speak for Thorus, who controls a market, and who can open a path toward Gomez.
He is not claiming to command those people himself; he sells the connections that let someone else reach them.
