I'm Raven, Gomez's right hand.

Raven controls access to Gomez and acts as the practical gatekeeper of the Old Camp's inner circle. Diego's support can get the Hero to Raven, but Raven still judges whether a newcomer looks useful enough to be brought before Gomez. Once the Hero is accepted as a Shadow, Raven provides armor and sends him into the Old Camp's work.

Gomez's business

Raven keeps delivery and supply matters moving without allowing every petitioner near Gomez. When the Hero brings swampweed from Cor Kalom, Raven directs him to Bartholo, the provisioner, and explains that Gomez does not handle such deliveries himself. He also ties the Old Camp's confidence to the Old Mine: as long as ore continues to come out, he considers the business sound.

After the flood

The Old Mine flood changes the atmosphere around Gomez. Diego notices Raven beginning to close him out, while Gomez looks for someone to blame. Raven remains inside the machinery of the camp at the point when its old certainty starts to break apart.

Raven's position lets him translate Gomez's authority into routine decisions: who enters, who receives equipment, and where a delivery belongs. That makes him more than a guard at a door. He is the layer that keeps the Old Camp's hierarchy operating until the mine disaster exposes how dependent it has been on one source of ore.

His caution toward the Hero is practical rather than ceremonial. Diego's recommendation opens the first door, but Raven still watches whether a newcomer can serve Gomez's camp without disrupting it. That calculation changes sharply once the flood gives Gomez a reason to distrust people who move between camps.

Raven is brought up when people discuss Gomez's decision to remove the Hero and wonder who might have argued against it. He also receives the Hero for Old Camp work, so his role combines senior political access with the practical ability to put outsiders to use.
