The final hunt

The fifth volume completes the set Cavalorn has been waiting for, but the collection ends with its most dangerous practical test. Cavalorn wants the silver hide of a frost shadowbeast, an animal powerful enough that even an experienced hunter treats the encounter as a hunt worth remembering.

He warns the hero to use every lesson from the earlier volumes. Skinning begins at the legs, the blade must stay at a flat angle, and the cut must be neither deep enough to ruin the hide nor shallow enough to tear it. The advice is simple to state and unforgiving to perform, because a single mistake can waste the prize of the entire hunt.
