Route

  • Snaf wants Syra's stew recipe, but she keeps it for Gomez's table. Check the kitchen for the recipe if she refuses to share it.
  • For Snaf's version, bring carrots, raw meat, strong beer, Mistcap mushrooms, and Cavern Dewleaf. Mistcaps grow near rivers and in caves; Dewleaf clings to wet cave walls.
  • After the hand-in, wait for Snaf to cook. His final recipe goes meat and beer first, then carrots, then Mistcaps, with only a little Dewleaf at the end.

Snaf shares the finished stew and the cooking method, but asks you not to undercut his trade.

A recipe behind the castle walls

Snaf hears the warders talking about Syra's stew and wants to know what makes it so good. The request is harder than it sounds because Syra cooks for Gomez's table, not for the diggers or the workers of the outer ring. The recipe is one more privilege held inside the castle, and Syra refuses to hand it over when asked directly.

That refusal does not end the search. The hero can find the recipe in the kitchen and bring it to Snaf, who discovers that the original ingredients are too difficult to gather. His answer is not to give up but to adapt the dish around what the colony can actually provide.

A cook's lesson in substitution

Snaf asks for ordinary supplies alongside two unusual cave ingredients: Mistcap mushrooms for their damp, distinctive taste and Cavern Dewleaf scraped from wet walls. Once everything arrives, he needs time to cook. The order matters—meat and beer first, carrots next, then the mushrooms, with only a touch of Dewleaf at the end.

The finished stew turns a guarded castle luxury into something the outer camp can make for itself. Snaf is happy to share the result, but he also asks the hero not to undercut his prices. Even a communal meal becomes part of the colony's fragile economy: recipes may travel, but the people who make a living from them still guard their place in the market.
